What is the difference between fostering and adopting a Pennypaws dog?

FOSTERING A DOG

A person or family fostering a dog will normally have a rescued dog come to live in their home on a temporary basis. In this time the dog will be given the patience, love and security it needs to de-compress & recover from any previous ordeals or stress it may have suffered.

The harsh life the dogs endure on the streets of Romania and the brutal way they are captured out there, means the dogs need plenty of calm time to adjust to a new life. Fostering helps a rescued dog get used to being around people and other dogs in a family home, to become more confident, toilet trained, to understand basic commands & recall and get used to going out on walks on a lead.

Then in good time the dog will hopefully be ready to be adopted by another family.
Fosters play a crucial role in dog rescue as they enable dogs, who might otherwise not be given a chance, find their forever homes. The process also enables experienced dog handlers who perhaps cannot take on a dog for its life, have a dog in their lives on a temporary basis.

Fosters do not pay for vets bills and do not pay an adoption fee. Although sometimes, fosters will decide to adopt the dog at the end of the fostering period.

ADOPTING A DOG

Adoption is where you adopt the dog into your home to live with you as a family member for its entire life. When you adopt a dog from Pennypaws Rescue you pay an adoption fee to cover the costs of transport, vets bills, shelter costs and administrative fees including an electronic chip and passport.
