Pennypaws Team back in Romania March 2026

Back in Romania 🇷🇴🐾

This week our team will be travelling to Romania to visit all of the dogs we’ve rescued for a full welfare and progress assessment.

These trips are incredibly important. They allow us to see every dog in person, check their health and behaviour, and make sure they are safe, well cared for, and continuing to make progress.

Many of these dogs were once abandoned, neglected, or living in very difficult conditions. Seeing them now — safe and slowly learning to trust again — reminds us exactly why we do this work.

During our visit we will be:
🐾 Assessing each dog’s health and wellbeing
🐾 Reviewing behaviour and socialisation
🐾 Identifying dogs ready for adoption or foster homes
🐾 Planning next steps for those who need more time and support

None of this would be possible without the support of our amazing community. Your donations, shares, and encouragement help us continue rescuing, rehabilitating, and giving these dogs a chance at a better life.

We’ll be sharing updates, photos, and stories throughout the trip — so stay tuned to meet some of the incredible dogs you’re helping us care for.

Thank you for being part of their journey. 🐶❤️

The Twelve Dreams of Christmas

Linda and Greg have made a thought provoking Christmas video for Pennypaws Rescue, called The Twelve Dreams of Christmas.

“With the onslaught of winter, we think of the dogs who are safe but not home, still hoping and dreaming of a new life here full of love and many wonderful things.” Linda and Greg

It inspired us to make this video, to show what an incredible difference a home could make for an dog and what a wonderful difference a dog can make to your life.

“He was safe but not home

His heart was full of hope.

He dreamed of a tree so tall

He dreamed of a bouncy ball

He dreamed of a freshly mown lawn

He dreamed of someone to whom he could belong

He dreamed of a beach by the sea

He dreamed of finally running free

He dreamed of treats and snacks galore

He dreamed of entering through his own front door

He dreamed of a bed on which to cuddle and snooze

He dreamed of dancing to rhythm and blues

He dreamed of a name tag to call his own

He dreamed of the Happy Bus bringing him home.“

Emergency Rescue Mission to Help Dogs at the Golesti Kill Shelter

Our team is fighting with everything we have to save eight terrified dogs in a Romanian kill shelter — but the truth is, we cannot get them out without you.

In the video, you see one tiny white dog shaking so hard she can barely stand. She’s confused, petrified… and she is only one of eight who are running out of time.

Their deaths are imminent.

To legally and safely pull them from that hell, we desperately need pledges for their vaccinations, health checks, and transfer to a private shelter. Without this, our hands are tied. We cannot reach them. We cannot save them.

No dog should die nameless, freezing, and alone — especially not two weeks before Christmas.

Right now, they have nothing.
No names.
No hope.
No one coming for them… unless it’s us.

Even £1 could be the difference between life and death. We need to raise £80 per dog.

Please pledge whatever you can: Ref: EMERGENCY

Hope for Christmas

HOPE FOR CHRISTMAS

Every year, when the brutal Winter in Romania comes, who could not be moved by the desperate plight of the dogs, who are waiting for the Happy Bus?

We are reminded how different their life could be, if only someone could love them, if only someone could reach out to them and offer them the warmth, comfort and joy of living in a real home.

We have made this video out of love, compassion and concern for the dogs, rescued from death, who have so much to give, if only someone could open their heart to them. Yes, they are safe, but not yet home .

Please see all the PennyPaws dogs who are longing for that special home, each one has their own sad story. https://pennypawsrescue.org.uk

Wishing them and you all, a hope-filled Christmas and an amazing, Happy New Year ahead.

The Long Run for Lenny Sunday 23rd November 20K Thames Barrier to Dartford Crossing

Please scan the QR code to sponsor Jonathan’s 20K Run

Big thank to everyone who supported and shared my 20K Pennypaws Rescue Run on Sunday 23rd Nov – The Long Run for Lenny – from the Thames Barrier to QEII Bridge Dartford Crossing.

So far we have raised nearly £600 towards helping Pennypaws Rescue support the lovely old boy ‘Lenny’ out in Romanina – who needs meds for his bladder cancer.

In the end I ran 22.5k – something to do with a massive detour around the river Durant… #mapreading

We are aiming to try and raise £1200, so please share if you can, thank you. Pennypaws is run by unpaid volunteers so every penny raised goes to help the dogs.

Background:
Pennypaws rescued Lenny but we were unable to bring him to the UK because the vet discovered he was suffering with bladder cancer and was deemed too old to travel.

However the lovely lady who runs the shelter out in Romania where Lenny was staying has taken him into her own home so he is now much more comfortable. Pennypaws Rescue is paying for his on-going bladder cancer medication. See below for details

I am doing a 20K Run on 23rd November 2025 to hopefully raise some funds to go towards the cancer treatment of the lovely old rescued dog ‘Lenny’ out in Romania.

Livestream on YouTube on Sunday 23/11/2025 08:45 Zulu THAMES BARRIER – https://www.youtube.com/@pennypawsrescue
