Gill Jenness
Trustee Chair of Pennypaws Rescue Charity
Hi, I started Pennypaws 4 years ago after adopting my Romaninan Rescue ‘Penny’. During that process I learnt about the terrible kill shelters out in Romaina, and how badly the dogs were treated.
When Penny first came to me she was very nervous and food obsessed. Not surprising since she had been almost starved to death in the Slatina Kill Shelter. But she soon showed signs of recovery – giving me her paw and enjoying cuddles, and although she hated a lead at first, she soon followed my other dogs and was happy out walking with us.
She has been the inspiration for Pennypaws Rescue and our work in trying to rescue more dogs in terrible conditions in Romania.

Anne Brough
Trustee of the Pennypaws Rescue Charity
Qualifications: Canine Behaviour Training Diploma (Distinction) – Centre of Excellence

My name is Anne and I volunteer as part of the admin team of PennyPaws.
I have collaborated with Gill Jenness, the founder of PennyPaws for a number of years in a variety of roles, previously as a foster for dogs coming from Romania and more recently on the admin side of the rescue.
I have two Romanian rescues as pets who actually started my interest in the plight of these dogs and the rest is history as they say.
PennyPaws Rescue is a small team of purely volunteers, driven only by our love of dogs and our wish to give as many of them as we can, the chance of a normal life in a loving family.

I came across Pennypaws Rescue on Facebook and was really impressed by Gill and her team and how much they care about the dogs and reducing the suffering that goes on in Romania. I decided to Foster one of their Romanian Rescues called ‘Sweety’ and in the end adopted her! Then I did it again with another Pennypaws dog – Woody. They are my world.
