URGENT APPEAL FOR FOSTER HOMES – UK ONLY. PennyPaws Rescue Needs You – the Dogs need you x

URGENT APPEAL FOR FOSTER HOMES – UK ONLY PennyPaws Rescue Needs You

Right now, PennyPaws Rescue is facing a desperate situation.

So many of our beautiful, innocent dogs—mostly rescued from the harsh streets and shelters of Romania—are waiting for a safe place to land here in the UK. We are urgently seeking foster homes across the UK.

Without your help, these dogs remain stuck in kennels or unsafe conditions, with their futures hanging in the balance. Fostering saves lives. Full stop.

🌟 Why Foster?
Fostering is one of the most rewarding experiences you can have. You give a frightened or forgotten dog the chance to experience love, stability, and safety—often for the first time in their life. With your support, they begin to heal.

🌟 You’re Never Alone
You’ll receive full rescue back-up, along with support and guidance from a qualified expert in dog behaviour and rehabilitation. Whether you’re new to fostering or experienced, we’re with you every step of the way.

🌟 Why Romanian Dogs?
Dogs in Romania face unthinkable cruelty and neglect. Many are born on the streets or dumped in kill shelters. Without UK foster spaces, they remain trapped—unable to begin the journey to a forever home. By fostering, you are literally the bridge between rescue and a new life.

Please, open your heart and your home. Even a short-term foster placement can change everything for a dog in need. By fostering, you’re joining a network of international volunteers and charities working to reduce suffering, rehome responsibly, and educate about humane treatment of animals.

Bear

🐻 INTRODUCING BEAR (Albert – the T is silent 😉) 🐻

A name as sophisticated as it is exotic, with just the right balance of look-how-cuddly-I-am meets but-don’t-touch.

Bear has spent years waiting for his moment, and now he’s finally stepping into his new life with purpose. From death row in Romania to five years in kennels, he’s seen the worst of what life can throw at a dog—but he’s never stopped believing in better days.

Now, with his own purpose-built house and a place to truly belong, Bear is not taking anything for granted. Despite his disabilities, he’s proving that every dog deserves a chance, a voice, and a future.

🐾 Bear joins the Pennypaws Embassy as our fourth Ambassadog, advocating for reactive and disabled dogs alongside Winston. Together, they’ll work to ensure that every dog gets a fair shot at happiness, as part of Pennypaws’ Equality & Diversity commitment.

He’s had to fight for everything—but now, he’s standing tall. And trust us, this Bear isn’t hibernating anytime soon. 💪🐾

Mila

Mila’s Happy Tail: From a Romanian Field to a Life Full of Love 🐾

Mila’s journey started in the unlikeliest of places—a field in Romania. When we found her during our visit in June, she was just a few days old, fragile and tiny, with an uncertain future ahead. But from that very moment, it was clear she was something special. Fast forward to today, and Mila is living the happiest life in the UK, filling every day with love, laughter, and a little bit of mischief!

Mila is full of energy and personality. She absolutely loves playing, especially with her best friend Basil (another Pennypaws rescue!). The two of them are inseparable, partners in crime and playtime. Whether they’re chasing each other through the house or having zoomies in the garden, their bond is something truly special.

She’s a natural explorer, always up for a run in the park or a woodland adventure. But despite her love of the great outdoors, she’s not too keen on car rides or water just yet—but she is getting so much better with it!

Mila is also quite the little diva—she adores the camera and will pose every single time. No candid shots here, only model-worthy moments!

And then there are the cuddles—Mila gives the absolute best morning snuggles. She burrows under the blankets like a little snugglebug, making sure she starts the day in the warmest, coziest way possible.

She also has a serious love for food—any food, all food, every food! If it’s edible, Mila is interested.

From a tiny newborn in a Romanian field to a beloved and spoiled fur baby, Mila’s story is one of love, luck, and second chances. She’s proof that rescue dogs don’t just find homes—they find families, best friends, and a lifetime of happiness.

She truly is the best baby, and we couldn’t be more grateful to have her. Thank you, Penny Paws, for making this journey possible!

Winston (was Finley)

Winston Has Won Hearts And His Forever Home! 🏡

This Great Pyrenees might have had a mountain to climb, but he’s finally reached the summit and planted his flag firmly in his carers’ hearts.💙

Finding homes for our golden oldies is always a challenge, but when you factor in a disability, their chances diminish even further. Yet, despite the odds, this gentle giant with an even bigger heart has found his place with Peter & Cao at Penny Paws Reactivity Centre.

His commitment to his physiotherapy, his unwavering spirit, and his endless capacity for love have made every step of his journey worthwhile. And now, he’s not just a beloved family member—he’s also taken on a new role!

Introducing Winston – One of Penny Paws’ Ambassadogs! 🏅🐾

As an Ambassadog for rescue dogs with disabilities and senior years, Winston will help raise awareness for those who are so often overlooked. His story is one of resilience, hope, and second chances, proving that every dog deserves a happy ending.

Congratulations, Winston! You’ve truly found your forever home. ❤️🏡

Lily – living the dream

Lily is a lucky girl.

Rescued by Pennypaws and now adopted in the UK living the dream. Lily arrived after her long trip from Romania, on a rainy night in May 2024. Gently towel dried and a comfy bed waiting, she soon relaxed and seemed to know she was safe.

Right from the start she’s been such a good girl and no trouble at all. Over time Lily has gained confidence and her personality shines out.

She is cheeky, funny and sometimes stubborn. She’s curious about everything and very clever. Lily charms everyone with those eyes. She’s always happy exploring new places, running joyfully around outside or on her best behaviour in a dog friendly cafe.

Lily loves to meet her special dog or human friends and greets them in her own enthusiastic way. She really enjoys her rides in the car, sitting like royalty in the back seat. Lily loves her home comforts and it’s hard to imagine how she must have been living before. We are very lucky to have her in our lives.

She is a very special girl and we love her. Lily’s Adopter Jan 2025 Please help us to rescue more dogs like Lily. https://pennypawsrescue.org.uk

    ALL ABOUT FOSTERING A DOG

A person or family fostering a dog will normally have a rescued dog come to live in their home on a temporary basis. In this time the dog will be given the patience, love and security it needs to de-compress & recover from any previous ordeals or stress it may have suffered.

The harsh life the dogs endure on the streets of Romania and the brutal way they are captured out there, means the dogs need plenty of calm time to adjust to a new life. Fostering helps a rescued dog get used to being around people and other dogs in a family home, to become more confident, toilet trained, to understand basic commands & recall and get used to going out on walks on a lead.

Then in good time the dog will hopefully be ready to be adopted by another family.
Fosters play a crucial role in dog rescue as they enable dogs, who might otherwise not be given a chance, find their forever homes. The process also enables experienced dog handlers who perhaps cannot take on a dog for its life, have a dog in their lives on a temporary basis.

Fosters do not pay for vets bills and do not pay an adoption fee. Although sometimes, fosters will decide to adopt the dog at the end of the fostering period.

    ADOPTING A DOG

Adoption is where you adopt the dog into your home to live with you as a family member for its entire life. When you adopt a dog from Pennypaws Rescue you pay an adoption fee to cover the costs of transport, vets bills, shelter costs and administrative fees including an electronic chip and passport. (If you foster a dog there is no fee)

How much does it cost to adopt a dog from Pennypaws Rescue?

When you adopt a dog from Pennypaws Rescue we normally ask for an Adoption Contribution of £595, this goes towards the costs of transport, vets bills, shelter costs and administrative fees including an electronic chip and passport. In some circumstances we may be able to reduce the adoption contribution.

A lovely inspiring note from one of our adopters…

“I have one of your beautiful dogs.  She is approx 3 years old and is the most loving dog I’ve had in over 50 years of dog ownership.

I’ve always had a rescue dog but most were the result of broken relationships or the death of an elderly owner.  Your dogs are special as you’ve actually saved their lives.  This makes me feel happy knowing that I’m giving a dog the chance to live, and know happiness, love, and comfort.”

Thank you so much to Linda for getting in touch with us to share those words.
