Lewis Jenness 26 mile marathon in Sweden to raise urgent funds to feed our rescued dogs in Romania

We are desperately needing help to continue feeding the 53 dogs we have saved in Romania from the the horrific kill shelters out there – where many dogs die.

The 53 we have rescued are some of the lucky ones – saved from an inhumane death, and we are trying to raise money to feed them and to pay for vet bills whilst we try and find them loving homes in the UK.

Pennypaws founder Gill Jenness’s son Lewis Jenness, a wonderful supporter, is running the 6 Lake Challenge Full Marathon in Sweden on 19th August 2023, and hopes he can raise £1500 to help the rescued dogs.

If you can spare anything please support him so we can continue to look after the rescued dogs in Romania. Thank you so much for reading and if you can help or share our story on your socials – thank you so much! x

Big thank you to Ancol for supporting our charity auction

Raising funds to enable us to rescue and home more dogs is becoming harder and harder, as the cost of living bites into everyone’s finances. One of the ways we at Pennypaws try and raise more money is through our Charity Auctions on Facebook, and we are extremely grateful to quality pet product supplier – Ancol for so generously donating some lovely pet products for our fundraising auction.

Ancol Pet Products is an independent, family owned company specialising in the supply of pet accessories for dogs, cats and small animals. From their West Midlands base in Walsall they have been developing pet products for discerning pet owners for over 50 years. Samantha Edwards 1985-2023

On Tuesday 4th July 2023, Zoey, one of our volunteers, went to represent Pennypaws Rescue at the funeral of Samantha Edwards, to join in celebrating the life of a lovely caring person who had so much to give, tragically taken from us far too young.
Samantha was an enthusiastic supporter of Pennypaws, and along with her husband Andrew, had recently adopted a lovely dog we had rescued called Chico, and were about to adopt Esme as well.

We want to thank Andrew for so generously arranging for donations made in Sam’s memory, to be given to her favourite charity – Pennypaws Rescue. As many of you will know, Pennypaws Rescue is run entirely by just five volunteers, and so every penny raised in memory of Sam will go exactly where she would have wanted – rescuing more dogs in desperate situations.

Please take a moment to visit Sam’s Much Loved page here.
Many thanks to Sam and Andrew’s family and friends for thinking of Pennypaws Rescue at such a difficult time.

8 Reasons To Rescue A Dog – To Adopt Not Shop

01 – You will be saving TWO LIVES

Instead of buying a puppy and encouraging back street breeding, adopting saves the life of the dog you are rescuing and creates space and funds for the organisation to rescue another abandoned dog.

02 – Support A DOG Rescue Organisation

By adopting a rescued dog you don’t just give a loving home to an abandoned animal, you are supporting a good cause.

03 – Your dream dog is out there waiting

Rescue organisations assess their dogs very carefully and will use their knowledge and experience to help you choose the perfect pooch! Be patient and get to know the dogs. A wonderful companion is out there waiting to find a loving home.

04 – Help, Support and advice

When you adopt a dog from a charity like Pennypaws, your four legged companion comes with Rescue Back Up. This means the organisation is there to help you settle your new friend into your home, and they can offer advice on training, diet, medical needs and behaviour.

05 – Save money by adopting

When you adopt a dog from a charity like Pennypaws Rescue, it will already be spayed or neutered, microchipped, and will have had its vaccinations and flea and worming treatments. These costs all add up, making adoption great value for money.

06 – Improve your health, reduce stress

Dogs can benefit your health and stress levels in countless ways and lots of adopters find rescuing a dog an incredibly positive and rewarding experience – which is why so many do it again!

07 – Children benefit

Learning how to look after a dog can be a wonderful experience for children. Your dog’s often difficult life journey can teach them valuable lessons about the importance of compassion and respect for animals.

08 – over population

There are millions of stray dogs around the world. By adopting you are helping to reduce the numbers and the suffering as well as taking money away from the inhumane puppy farms.
